Counselling

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a professional activity within a contractual relationship. The counselling process enables you to develop awareness, options and skills for problem management and personal development in daily life through the enhancement of your strengths, resources and functioning. Its aim is to increase autonomy in relation to your social, professional and cultural environment.

Modality

The primary model that I use within my sessions is Transactional Analysis. TA is a psychoanalytic theory and method of therapy, developed by Eric Berne during the 1950s. It is a method which analyses the process of transactions in communication with others. It requires us to be aware of how we feel, think and behave during interactions with others.

In therapy, TA can be used to address your interactions and communications with the purpose of establishing and reinforcing the idea that each individual is valuable and has the capacity for positive change and personal growth.

As a therapist who has also undertaken training within the field of Islamic Counselling & Psychology I am also able to provide a way of working which caters for the needs of the Muslim client.
